Getting Ready For Your Countertops
New countertops are just one more piece of the home improvement puzzle that transforms a space with your design style and tastes in mind. While choosing a countertop is the first step, having it expertly installed is just as important.
At RS Custom Countertops, you can rely on our workmanship for a custom countertop that is long-lasting and one that keeps up with the demands of your home.
Are you ready for your RS Custom Countertops vanity or kitchen countertop installation? Here are a few things that you need to know before the production process starts to ensure your project stays on schedule.
Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have on any of the following requirements below.
Templates
RS Custom Countertops designs and implements unique and custom countertops for your space. Before the countertops are even installed, the first step is the templating process. This requires our crew to map out your countertop surfaces to ensure the cut is accurately measured.
Once the templating process is complete, your new countertops are ready to be cut and prepared for installation.
To Prepare For The Templates We Ask You To Do The Following:
- Please clear all items off countertops.
- If you wish to add or omit parts of your kitchen or bathroom, please let us know before the template day.
- Ensure both you or a person in charge of the project is there at the template time to show our crew what you need, and to get final approval of the templates.
- Please have the following items ready for the template crew. We will need to have all this information before we start fabricating your countertops.
Cabinets
If new cabinets are being installed, the base cabinets must be complete before any template takes place. This includes all fillers, modifications, cabinet movements, etc. If cabinets are not present, or not complete at the time of the template, and the customer insists templates to be made at the time, RS Custom Countertops will not be responsible for incorrect countertop length or width.
RS Custom Countertops will not be responsible for countertops made from dimensions provided by the customer or the customer’s contractor. All requests of this nature must be in writing and must be signed before we start any production. If cabinets are not level, you will need to bring a contractor to level them up before we can install the granite.
Sinks
Undermount Sink
If you plan to provide your own sink or reuse a sink you currently have, we will need to bring that sink to our shop. If the sink is not available or not on-site at the time of the template, we will ask you to drop it off at our facility. If we are supplying a sink for you then you must discuss all terms with us.
Drop-In Sink
If you are using a drop-in sink we would not need to bring this with us. Additionally, we do need it to be on site on the installation date.
Farm Sink
If you are using a farm sink, it would need to be in place during the templating phase.
Tear Out
It’s important that any additional remodeling or construction apart from templating and countertop installation is done prior to RS Custom Countertops being on site.
- Any tear out work required by RS Custom Countertops will be completed the same day of the installation. If you take care of this process, please make sure it is done prior to our installation crew’s arrival.
- Please clear all items off countertops and empty all cabinets and drawers underneath the sink counter, and disconnect the water line to your sink and dishwasher. If there is a mirror touching the piece that is to be torn out, please remove the mirror.
- Please let us know if you would like to keep your old countertops, sink, or anything else we tear out for use in the other parts of the house. Otherwise, they are thrown away.
Installation
- Your sink will be installed when your countertops are installed. Please allow 24 hours before bringing in your plumber to reconnect the sink, install the faucet, etc.
- Our installers do not do any plumbing or installation of appliances; you will need to bring your plumber and electrician for any of this.
- Overhangs may require corbels for additional support. These should be installed before installation by your cabinet or contractor.
Payment
- A 50% deposit is required before the project begins, along with a signed agreement, where we will specify color, edge, sink, etc.
- The remaining balance is due when the project is complete.
